Explanation and price list
The new MCA Large Yacht Code requires a Safety Management System for MCA coded yachts below 500 GT.
How does it work?
The yacht is supplied with a CD containing:
- Procedures, policies, reports, risk assessments and forms in sub-divided folders
- Job descriptions for all crew
- Sub-divided folders for Records
- Laminated Emergency Checklists in Folder
- Laminated Standard Operating Procedures in Folder
The documents can be used as presented, or if required by the yacht, the documents can be amended to suit the actual operating practices of the yacht and a revised CD and set of documents will be created as part of the standard cost.
The folders and procedures can all customised with the yacht logo for optimal professional presentation.
The price includes one re-work of the documents, further amendments will be charged at the standard hourly rate if required.
The yacht will receive a 6 months subscription for Regs4yachts including SOLAS. (This ensures compliance with the requirements to carry various regulations and shipping notices).
What does it cost?
- Price GBP 1900 for the above Safety Management System plus UK VAT if applicable.
- First Invoice (75%) on deposit and final Invoice after delivery of amended CD’s.
- Any SM procedure amendments required by Flag Approval will be included in the price.
- The standard rate for additional work or further consultancy is GBP90 per hour plus VAT if applicable.

Electronic safety and maintenance modules
The basic sms4yachts has procedures on CD and a paper based records system. We can provide additional functionality so that the yacht system contains photographs of all equipment in situ with operating instructions and maintenance requirements. The maintenance routines can be printed monthly in the form of a checklist with the actual maintenance tasks detailed for that month.
- Cost per yacht GBP 1000 if data collected by yacht (The price assumes that all digital images and operating and maintenance instructions and maintenance baseline dates are supplied by the yacht)
- GBP 3000 plus travel disbursements if data collected by Regs4yachts.
SOLAS Training Manual
A SOLAS LSA and FFE Training Manual is available. This is a high quality folder, customised with the yacht logo containing the images of the safety equipment, plus operating instructions together with the generic information required in all SOLAS training manuals.
It is intended to be placed in the crew mess and complies with SOLAS Chapter II-2 Regulation 15 (FFE) and Chapter III Regulation 35 (LSA).
